Every time I borrow a book from the library I like to look at the return dates on the slip of paper pasted at the first page. It is also for this reason that I still prefer to check out my books at the counter rather than use the self-checkout machines. Still prefer old school you know? If the date before my return date was a long time ago like the book I just borrowed today, I feel strangely happy to have plucked the book back out of obscurity. After all, books should be read and not left to rot on the shelf, right?
