*Yet Another Bimbotic Friday Entry*
23 Sept, 2004 is a day to remember. Yesterday, I bought a mascara for the very first time! This at the ripe old age of 25+++! ;p
I was with D when I bought it, and we were in the Watsons store near our office. It’s great that we’re able to meet for lunch once in a while seeing that our offices are so close by. Anyway, so there I was to buy toiletries, and on a wimp I decided that I wanted to get mascara.
I didn’t need to buy some big brand name one like Lancome, MAC or Prescriptives, therefore those cheaper cosmetic lines like L’Oreal and Maybellin that are being retailed in Watsons stores suited me fine.
Then I was confronted with a myriad of mascaras and having NO idea whatsoever what to go for. D, ever the makeup guru, helps me by dispensing information and advice.
Me: What should I get? Black or brown? Waterproof or Non-Waterproof? Curling or lengthening? L’Oreal or Maybelline? Big wand or small wand?
[holds up a L’Oreal mascara which is huge in size]
What’s this? 70% lengthening and 30% curling? I didn’t know these things had percentages! And why is it so big? Help!
D: This one has two sides that’s why. Anyway, go for brown lah.
Me: But my eyes and hair are so dark…what if I look weird if the brown is too light in colour? Can I try the mascara?
D: No! People normally don’t try mascara!
Me: Oh. What the heck. I’ll just go for the brown…I don’t think the colour’s that drastic a difference from black. So waterproof or non-waterproof?
D: Waterproof.
Me: Ok. Lengthening or curling?
D: Curling. You don’t need lengthening lah.
Me: Big wand/small wand?
D: Small. It’s easier for you to manage.
Eventually I decided on a Maybelline waterproof brown mascara which D said she would never buy ONLY because Zhang Ziyi endorses it. You can see how much D luurrvves her.
I tried putting it on this morning. I think I’m a basket case. Haha…but I think it’s looking ok…not clumpy and it looks a little longer, but it’s not curling as I want it to be! I must be doing it wrong.
