I had an endoscopy done on my nasal tract today by an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist. It was just to have peace of mind that I didn’t have nasopharynx cancer. Why even contemplate the possibility you ask?

In September and October last year, I was having a bad case of allergic rhinitis and it comes back every now and then. The air pollution in Hong Kong doesn’t exactly help my condition. I went to the GP seven times and also saw a traditional Chinese doctor six times and still I wasn’t getting well. In the end, the GP referred me to the ENT specialist. After he prescribed stronger meds and a nasal spray, my condition improved.

But recently the allergic rhinitis struck again and so I went for a third consultation at the ENT. I chose to have an endoscopy done to ensure I didn’t have cancer as it’s a possibility with my symptoms. The endoscopy was painless and took a couple of minutes. Thankfully the doctor’s diagnosis was that there was no sign of cancer.

Thus for that I’m grateful – health is wealth!!!
