Very lucky to see this Queen of the Night in bloom tonight in my aunt’s back garden. This great Dame of flowers blooms only once a year – at night – and stays open for a mere few hours. Such an elusive flower! It also has a nice, sweet fragrance that reminds me of a more faint version of jasmine.
Just two hours before it bloomed, at about 7pm in Sydney, it looked like that.

Without anyone realising, it revealed its full beauty to the guardians of the night.
What a privilege to see this!
