Yesterday was the first day of winter in Australia and it was the perfect winter’s day to kick off the season – glorious sunshine and wispy clouds hanging against the blue skies in balmy temperatures.
I had to take the train into the city for the first time in 2.5 months and it felt so surreal. Crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and seeing the Sydney Opera House seemed like an exciting outing for the day. There weren’t too many people on the train so it was easy to social distance.

I stepped into an empty office and waited for my colleague in IT to arrive to help me change my laptop’s swollen battery. It was the first time I had chatted with a colleague face to face in 2.5 months and it felt nice to be able to do so.
The building in which my company is located was also quiet. The CBD itself was quiet but not as empty as I had expected.
It will be awhile before I will see my colleagues again, and frankly it doesn’t bother me because it’s not like I talked to everyone. Haha. I only miss the ones whom I was closer to. Ah well, tis the new normal!
