Adventures before the strict lockdown

Before the strict lockdown, I managed to get out to the Blue Mountains and Nattai National Park for some bushwalking, and thought I’d share some pics. Bushwalking clubs have had to stop their activities and it’ll be awhile before walks can be organised again.

A tunnel along the Box Vale Mine Walking Track in the Nattai National Park. This area used to be a coal mine.

Gorgeous day out – this walk saw 10 of us trying our best to social distance by keeping at least 1.5m apart along the trail. A day or two after, stricter rules meant that no more walks would be organised.

A cascade along the Nattai River where a few of my fellow bushwalkers went in for a dip.

I was standing on a rock ledge which I had abseiled down to when I took this shot of the Three Sisters at the Blue Mountains. It’s not an angle you’d normally see from tourist shots!

Katoomba Falls looks lovely with water pouring down. Before the rain in recent weeks, such a sight wouldn’t have been possible.

A shot of the lower blue mountains from Adam’s Lookout in Hazelbrook.

Terrace Falls in Hazelbrook is one of the more well known waterfalls in the lower Blue Mountains. The Terrace Falls loop track takes you there.

Willawong Pool along the Terrace Fall loop track in Hazelbrook – you can actually go behind the waterfall to sit on a natural rock bench. It’d certainly feel like a water curtain if you did that!

This is a view of the Hawkesbury River from a rock ledge along the Cowan to Brooklyn trail. This area is closer to my home as we were, by this time, told not to travel far from home.
