Learning from my Students

My class went pretty well today. Definitely better than last week. Of course, there were a few blunders here and there. But I’m pretty happy with how it went. I learnt from my mistakes last week and I got positive comments from my supervising teacher. I think I’m gaining more confidece with more practice. 🙂
I feel that as much as my students (both the Japanese children & migrants I’m teaching) are learning from me, I’m learning from them as well. With the children, I’m learning what is it like to teach children and I feel very happy after teaching them ‘cos they’re always so enthusiastic, eager and happy!
With the adult migrants, it’s really interesting as well. Adults, unlike children, have a wealth of world experience and knowledge to draw upon. Often, I learn so many things about the world from them. It could be something cultural, or really, listening to some of their sad stories, it just makes me feel sssoooooo lucky compared to them. All these lessons about life which are so invaluable.
I think if any teacher feels that he/she has nothing to learn from his/her students, that person is one bad teacher!
On that note, it’s time for bed!
