Lessons with Emiko

Teaching Emiko ( I realised today that I have been spelling her name wrong all these while. It’s Emiko and not Amiko) is such a joy especially when her two younger sisters hang around in the room as well. Her second sister Yukiko is 5 years old and the youngest one Hanako is about 20 months old. All three of them are sssooo adorable in their own ways. The little one is such a dear. She’s so friendly and allows me to carry her. Sometimes she asks to be carried and I readily obliged ‘cos she’s so chubby and cute.
Yukiko was really sweet. She made this little thing ( i don’t really know what it is) out of paper and said it was for me. I wished I had a digital camera right now! Then I would be able to take a shot of it and put in on my blog. Better still, take a picture of these three lovely girls.
I also found out that Emiko’s really good in art & craft. She draws a lot and makes lots of craftwork in school. I got her to talk about her drawings, and the things she made. She makes all these really interesting stuff at school. E.g. a candle, paper mache balloon holder, mask, woven bag etc. Her drawings are really good as well. She’s definitely one very talented budding artist!
Compared to the first lesson we had, we’re having a lot more fun with each other. I guess we’re more familiar with each other, and I’m also learning what works and does not works with her. Today, I showed her photos of my dogs in Singapore, and she said she likes Rex (my collie) better. Usually we read books, and we talk about the books and other things I can think of. Most of the time, one subject just leads on to another. It’s fun having a conversation with her.
At the end of today’s lesson, I met her father who just came home from work. Today’s lesson ended at 6:30pm instead of 5:30pm ‘cos Emiko’s mum had something to attend to and requested the lesson to be postponed by an hour. Anyway, I met her father for the first time and he thanked me for teaching Emiko. He also added that Emiko tells him she enjoys her lessons with me!
So that was something that made me happy for the day. 🙂
