Returned home a while ago from the CVA project. I didn’t end up at Goat Island as previously mentioned, but at Clark Island instead. Judging from the size of Clark Island, I would think it’s more suited to be called an islet. It’s really small but nice nonetheless. From the island, there’s a lovely view of the Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney city skyline.
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t fantastic. It was extremely windy and it was very cold because of the strong winds. Many of the volunteers and myself included, had expected much warmer weather so we weren’t wearing clothes that were warm enough nor did we have extra clothing. It was also very cloudy and the sun only peeked out now and then, which really didn’t help at all!
We got to Clark Island by a small boat which belongs to the Sydney Harbour Trust. Apparently, the island can be rented for functions. As we pulled weeds, we enjoyed the view before us. The yachts, sailboats, canoes and ferries were all sailing past. It’s amazing how all these vessels share the Sydney Harbour. There’s so much traffic in the harbour but the great thing is that there’s always space for everyone. At times there are so many yachts and sailboats that you would think there’s some regatta going on.
Well, it was a nice day spent at Clark Island despite the cold. At least I got to go to somewhere new!
