Floriade

On Saturday, the flowers at Floriade greeted us in the full glory of their colours and blooms. The tulips, poppies, African violets, daisies and many other flowers created a lovely garden for the visitors to stroll in and admire nature’s work. I have pictures, but a pity it’s still in my camera. Really need a digital camera now!
However I expected Floriade to be bigger in scale. It was a tad disappointing. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the time spent with my friends. We didn’t get to see much of Canberra as we had to head back to Sydney soon after. It takes 3 hours to drive to Canberra from Sydney. So we spent a total of 6 hours on the road. I got to drive too after a few months away from the wheel. Oh, it was fun zipping down the motorway at 120km/h while admiring the beauty of the landscape.
The best thing about Sydney is that a short drive away, the landscape and scenery totally changes, and you feel refreshed again from being away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
On the way back from Canberra, we stopped over at Bankstown (a suburb in the western part of Sydney) to have Vietnamese food for dinner. The Vietnamese food in Bankstown really good! Two of my friends who came along were Vietnamese and they knew which were the good food to order.
The meal was fantastic! I got to try new types of Vietnamese food instead of the usual Pho (pronounced as ‘fur’) which is the Vietnamese beef noodles. We had prawn and duck salad, duck noodles, beef with lemon grass and this other Vietnamese pancake dish.
I like Vietnamese food ‘cos it’s very healthy and not heavy on the stomach. The main dishes are always accompanied by mint leaves, cabbage, bean sprouts and carrots served raw on the side. It’s usually accompanied by some sauces which you’re supposed to dip the meat into. Delicious!
So it was a day filled with great company and great food!
