Had my very last lesson today. No more Tuesday and Thursday night classes to attend. I won’t be seeing my classmates again. It was only in the second semester that we became closer as a class and now we have to say goodbye to one another. It’s a little sad.
All of us got along very well with one another and I know that the next time I visit Sydney, I’ll definitely look these bunch of people up again. Here’s a picture of me with some of my classmates. Some of them like Joe, Joyce & Vanessa aren’t there ‘cos they were out buying their dinner when this picture was taken. Nevermind, I have other photos of them.

From left is Amy who’s from HongKong, but has been living in Sydney for the past 20 years or so. Amy’s a really nice person and has been giving me lifts back to Chatswood after class on Thursday nights ‘cos she lives in Chatswood. She usually drops me off at the station and then I’ll take a train from Chatswood to Pymble. We get along really well.
Then there’s me and next to me is Vanessa. We have two Vanessas in the class. Seems that everywhere I go there are two Vanessas. Two of my best friends from secondary school in Singapore are called Vanessa, and when I come to Sydney, there are another two Vanessas. I must be really fated to meet people with that name. Anyway, Vanessa’s a really sweet and smart gal. We get along very well and we chat about the usual stuff girls talk about – men, or rather the lack of good men, being a swinging single, school work, etcetc.
Next to Vanessa is Steph who’s soft-spoken but once you get to know her better, she’s great to talk to. I’m glad I’ve found a friend in her.
Next to Steph is Kate – a very pregnant Kate. Kate’s about to have a baby in Dec! Kate’s a joy to talk to and in the second semester, she has been giving me lifts back to Pymble after class on Tuesday nights as it’s on her way back home to Newcastle. I got to know Kate a lot better in the second semester because of these car rides.
Last but not least, in the front is Anita. Anita’s originally from Germany but has been living in Australia for the past 20 years. She’s lovely to talk to and she’s great to have in class ‘cos she asks really intelligent questions and makes very insightful comments.
And just a bit on those not in this picture. Joe’s the only guy in our group. Not that there are many guys in the course anyway. Joe and I have become good pals all thanks to msn. Haha. We figure that one day, both of us, along with Joe’s friend Adrian whom I now know, will have to check into MSN Anonymous because of the time we spend on msn. But we figure we’ll just be chatting to each other again at MSNA. So there’s not much point.
Then there’s Joyce & the other Vanessa. Joyce was my teaching partner last semester and she’s the baby of the class ‘cos she’s the youngest at 21 years of age. Vanessa’s the tough cookie of the class – this gal does competitive kickboxing! She also asks intelligent questions and makes good comments in class.
The picture was taken at the table where we usually have our dinner on Tuesday nights during the break between the two classes we have. We have shared many conversations over that humble white table.
We’re all going to pursue different paths. Some will be staying in Australia, some will be going overseas. I wish them all the best and with the world being so small these days, I’m sure there’ll be opportunities for me to meet them again. I’m glad that I got to know all these wonderful people!
