the different morsels of the life of a foodie

The Vagabond

Just got back home from a CVA project and I’ll be heading out of the house again soon. Will be going clubbing tonight with some friends. First time since I’ve been in Sydney that I’m going, and it’ll probably be the last too.
I went to Middle Head today and as usual was pulling out weeds. Today the weed I was pulling out was called Wondering Jew. It’s a creeper which is originally from South America. Anyway, cleared bagfuls of those. So tired now. Thankfully I managed to come home to have a warm shower to soothe those muscles. This is probably my last project with the Conservation Volunteers of Australia. Feel a little sad.
Last night, I went for this dinner which was organised by the Teaching & Learning Literacy department of the UTS Education Faculty for international students. We had to pay $25 each. However, the food at the Thai restaurant was horrible. I wasted my money and not to mention my calories last night!
Many Japanese students were there. And it’s most bizarre how they were all dressed to the nines for a very casual and informal dinner. Gosh, I felt like a vagabond or some tramp compared to them. The girls were all decked in cocktail dresses, had their hair styled and the guys were dressed in nice shirts.
One Japanese friend of mine bought a cheongsam the day before specially for this dinner. Goodness.
Me being the lazy person when it comes to all these dressing up can never be bothered to go to such extents for such a informal dinner. It’s not like I was going to the Ritz Carlton!
Anyway, it’s all very scary – don’t tell me I’ll have to stock up on a whole lot of clothes if I go to Japan to teach??? Argh!
