One of the things I take pleasure in during my lunch hour is listening to this jazz trio belting out jazz and classic pop tunes. It also happens that I love the sound of the piano, violin and double bass.
The three players are probably in their 60s and I’m not sure if they are performing to while away time or if they genuinely need the money. In any case, they bring beautiful music and joy to the people who stop to listen.
From bossa nova tunes like ‘The Girl from Ipanema’ to country music classic ‘Tennessee Waltz’ to jazz classic ‘Autumn Leaves’, this trio has a repertoire to cater to a wide range of musical tastes. A small crowd usually gathers – these are the few who take a moment out of their hectic schedules to stop and enjoy the moment.
No expensive stereo system can beat the joy of listening to live music played by musicians who clearly enjoy their craft. This jazz trio entertains the lunch crowd and shoppers at the IFC starting from 12.30pm. Their ‘stage’ is just in front of the Club Monaco and Max & Co shops (on the IFC One side). I’m not sure what time they end as I usually can’t stay too long, but if you do see them, do stop for a moment and give this trio an audience!
