Q3. Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?
I seldom make phone calls especially since mobile phones came into existence. These days, my main mode of communication is via testing or email. Which kinda suits me, given that I like to write. The only people I now call are my colleagues based elsewhere to clarify some matter or my mother (using WhatsApp call) to catch up on what’s going on. To these people I don’t rehearse what I’m going to say as the talk is mainly casual in nature.
However, if I had to call someone I didn’t know well to talk about something serious or important, I would rehearse the call and write down on a piece of paper the points I want to cover. After all, it’s akin to giving a speech – you need to rehearse and prepare, otherwise you’ll just sound stupid. And then you’ll probably end up not getting what you need or want. Which is not the ideal outcome!
