Kyrgyzstan pics #1

It’s been a long while since my last post. When I last wrote, I was in Hong Kong at that time. Stayed a few days and I was off to Kyrgyzstan. Here are some pics in what I would count as one of my most memorable trips.

At the mountain ridge overlooking Ala Kul lake at around 3,900m. It was a hard slog up a hill of slippery scree but the views at the top were definitely worth it. What an amazing view it was with snowcapped mountains and a glacier in the distance.

Hiking down to the lake – look at all those rocks!

We camped by the lake that night. For a few days we were cut off from wifi and all modern communication, and it was so nice to have that type of mental detox. The last time I enjoyed this type of quiet was in Mongolia and I had missed it.

Hiking back up to go over the pass the next morning.

We went horse riding as well. Horses are very much a part of the traditional way of life for the nomadic Kyrgyz tribes.

Beautiful Alpine forests and lakes are abound in Kyrgyzstan. Really breath-taking scenery and a hiker’s paradise.

The mountain of scree we had to climb up and down. One of the most slippery terrains I’ve ever had to hike on!
