Bushwalking on Saturday took me to the ledges of the Radiata Plateau which are near Medlow Bath. We walked for about 13.6km and even though there were no large climbs, the small and continuous ups and downs made me surprisingly tired by the end of it.
Along one part of the walk, we popped into this lovely nook. We only got to it because someone in the group had been there before and managed to lead the other 10 of us to this gorgeous hideout. It was a lush vertical garden with showers of water falling over the edge of the rocks from the top and water cascading down the gentle creek. I was reminded of a secret garden that one might find depicted in a children’s book!

Throughout the walk, we had gorgeous views of the Megalong Valley sprawled in front of us. We sat along the ledges for our morning tea and lunch breaks with such views accorded to us. It was simply breathtaking and a view I would never tire of; being out in the mountains is so soul-nourishing. I simply can’t understand why Australians don’t get out to the bush more often. I find it bizarre that people here prefer being a gym rat among all that sterile metal. Anyway, their loss!
The Megalong Valley appeared much greener than it was when I saw it a month ago while out abseiling. The rains have certainly spurred new growth and that’s really heartening to see!
